Philadelphia-born artist Elsa Koenig Nitzsche was a portrait painter during the early and mid-twentieth century. She studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Philadelphia School of Design for Women, and became a respected portraitist whose work was exhibited in Europe and the United States.
