Imagination Station

Imagination Station, 2008, Digital Photographic Print
Andrew Moore (American, born 1957)
#2014.0005.0001

Imagination Station comes from Andrew Moore’s photographic exploration of the city of Detroit undertaken in 2008-2009. Through his Detroit series, Moore reveals both dignity and tragedy in this once prosperous city that suffered great economic decline in the late 20th century. Imagination Station looks toward the towering Michigan Central Station, with two derelict residential properties in the foreground. The title Imagination Station references the plot of land and non-profit of the same name dedicated to enlivening the surrounding neighborhood through creative community programming.

This large-scale digital chromogenic print was made from a scanned film negative and measures 45" x 55".
