This circular gold brooch relates to early leaders of the German Empire. The Prussians dominated the German Empire from its creation in 1871, led by Kaiser Wilhelm I.  and his wife, the Empress Augusta. Here, the brooch is decorated with the initial “A” for Empress Augusta, the wife of Kaiser Wilhelm I.
