This gold notebook with a jeweled crown relates to early leaders of the German Empire. The Prussians dominated the German Empire from its creation in 1871, led by Kaiser Wilhelm I.  An ivory page inside the notebook is inscribed “From Empress Augusta of Germany 1886.”
