Goldie Paley (American, 1882 – 1977)
Artist and philanthropist Goldie Paley was born in Russia and moved to the United States as a child. Paley painted well into her 90’s focusing on domestic scenes and still life compositions.
Following her death in 1977, Paley’s mid-century “Hollywood Ranch” was donated to what was then Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science and serves as the Design Center at what is now Philadelphia University. The Goldie Paley Gallery at Moore College of Art and Design, and a Police Athletic League in the Germantown section of Philadelphia share her name.
