Robert Motherwell was an American painter and printmaker whose work was deeply influenced by the horrors of the Spanish civil war. This work pays tribute to famous Spanish playwright and poet Federico García Lorca, whose 1936 execution continues to be shrouded in mystery. His remains were never found.
