Jacques Hnizdovsky (Ukranian-born American, 1915 – 1985)

Jacques Hnizdovsky was a classically trained artist, but was self-taught in the art of printmaking.  Born in Ukraine, Hnizdovsky moved to the United States in 1949.  The artist was a regular visitor at the Bronx Zoo and the botanical and zoological garden in New York, frequently depicting animals, flora, and fauna in his woodcuts.
