Un Affreux Trio

Un Affreux Trio, 1852, Lithograph
Honoré Daumier (French, 1808 – 1879)

Honoré Daumier was a 19th century French painter, sculptor, printmaker, and caricaturist. His work often lampooned corrupt government officials and the bourgeoisie. This work is from his series called “Croquis Musicaux” or musical sketches.  Though his use of exaggerated, even grotesque facial features, Daumier pokes fun at this “terrible trio."
